Default Gear swap progress

Man, I forgot how bad gear oil stinks! Despite the weather down here in S. Fla, I managed to get to the point just before pulling the differential out. When I was taking the drive shaft off, one of the friggen flange bolts gave me a run for my money. Good lord that loctite Chrysler used seemed to work too good! Nothing like a sledge hammer and a Craftman wrench to beat the damn thing off. Gawd! Not even my Thunder Gun could do anything with it.

Looks like today will be dryer so I should be able to get some more done. Not looking to rush this project, although it would be nice to have the new gears in by tonight. But I'm not counting on it. Taking my time. I took some pictures of the progress but haven't posted them, yet. I'll try to get to it later on today. Waiting for my buddy to get here with more beer and git 'er dun!

Oh, I guess it would help if I told you what I had in case someone was wondering. I'm installing a 4.56 Motive Gear from Moe's in my 2003 Ram 1500 RWD.

friggen broke two ring bolts ...taking to shop tomorrow. My day is shot..

EDIT: Maybe not. Broke ring gear bolts in the ring gear .. of which I'm not going to be using any more. I'll extract later, but not a show stopper. I have new ring gear bolts that came with my master install kit. Nice.

I wish I could work on my truck in the driveway in this part of the season. We have about 6" of snow and mid 20* weather. Not the best conditions.

Kudos for doing it yourself. You should take TONS of pics and do a detailed DIY with parts and tools needed (hint hint)
