Default bad gas millage?

my truck used to get a combined 16 mpg about a month ago, now im lucky to get 16 on the highway alone, its now only getting 13 mpg. i have done no changes since this has happen, so i know its not caused by something i changed on the truck. when i walk by the back of the truck, to me it smells like its running alot richer then normal, im thinking the o2 could be going out but it hasnt thrown a code yet, a friend of mine said it could also be a cracked injector. do yall have any ideas of how i could test those things or if that it could be?

Could be a number of things. remember that winter blend gas gets worse mileage. Could be air filters, low tire pressure, road winds, remote starters, spark plugs, heavy foot, ECT.

winter blend doesnt lower it that much, just cleaned air filter, tires are good and brand new, no more wind then normal, spark plugs are good, been driven like a grandma to try and fix it.

Wintertime is a very bad thing for gas mileage. First, you get the good old winter blend gas, then cold air makes your PCM richen the mixture and then the cold decreases the PSI of your tires, ALL of which work against fuel economy...

Keep it tuned up, watch the air in your tires and drive conservatively...

You can also try resetting the PCM to reset the fuel trims

Either disconnect the battery cables for a while or pull the PCM fuse in the fuse box (PDC) and flip the key on, off, on, off, on and wait 20 secs. The off and replace the fuse
