In the FAQ section there is thread about tires. That will give a feel for what others are running and how much they like them.

Put it this way, my stock wranglers lasted 20,000 miles before there needed to be replaced, sold them and the wheels for $500 and bought 17's and 305/70/17 nitto terra grapplers and I just put 20,000 and still have 3/4's tread left.

I was able to get about 30k out of mine before the belts started separating, plus they were starting to get pretty low on tread. But, while I don’t think the HP’s are as bad as everyone says they are, I don’t think that they’re all that good either. I replaced them with Cooper LTZ’s, and they are much better than the HP’s. The tires don’t spin in the rain anymore, and in the snow, it’s like a night and day difference. I’ve been able to use 2WD in instances that I would have had to use 4WD with the HP’s. I've had the LTZ's for about 16k miles, and still they look practically brand new.

You dont need two tires...You need 4. Unless you are riding a bike.

The Goodyear Wrangler HP's are some of the worst tires I've ever had on a vehicle. If it was wet out, they were terrible. I replaced them at < 30k (and I bought it with 26k).

Perhaps they were worn out by the time I got the truck, but it seems that the general consensus is that they really suck.

Wow, mine have 43K on them and have over 1/2 tread. They do fine at 70mph in heavy rain and have been decent in the last couple of winter storms here. Yes, there are better tires out there, but I really cant complain about the ones that came on my truck.
I will be going to BFG Long Trail T/A's when the time comes.
