2nd gen drop shackles lift the rear of our trucks?? I didn't know that. how does it work? I may have to do that in stead of the blocks.

So the 2nd gen is different than the 3rd gen? I mean obviously, but the design is different in which a 2" drop shackle for a 2nd gen will actually raise our trucks 1.5-2inches. Meaning if we put a stock 2nd gen shackle on our trucks it could lift the rear like 3-4"?

My big question is: which would be better/safer/more durable in the long run, drop shackles or blocks?

I think the shackles. Ive never been too comfortable with anything over 2in on blocks.

That said, I literally have 3in plastic blocks holding up my entire body so who knows

hahaha! That's pretty funny right there. But you are sure that 2nd gen 2" drop shackles lift our 3rd gens? Do you have any threads to point us to? I can't find anything Matt.

And HERE is the proof. With pics. According to the logic used earlier, I can only assume that using STOCK 2nd gen shackles would give us considerable lift in the rear, as the drop shackle is merely a shorter-than-stock shackle that is still longer than our stock 3rd gen shackles. Make sense? I would also assume that new shocks would be required when using the stock 2nd gen piece. Discuss.

**edit**
Also good reading.
