Angry Paint

I don't have pics right now, but I painted my truck's grille with pxr coded paint but it looks all flat and honestly...it looks more like plasti dip than anything. I sanded my grille down, de greased it, then two coats od rustoleum primer, 4 coats of pxr code paint (I go it from the local dodge dealer) and then 3 coats of clear and it looks like plasti dip...how do I get it to shine and be glossy and reflective like the paint on the body of my truck?

the the body of your truck has more than likely been waxed/buffed so all the minor surface imperfections have been smoothed out. you may want to try and give it a light wet sand with 2000 grit or something of that effect.

Yeah, you have a point. I took a closer look and realized the main difference is that my truck was covered in brown, so I have to wash off the dirt and also on a day I have off I'm goin to get some 2000 grit paper and wet sand it and put a couple of more clear coats on and then wet sand again and let it cure then wash and wax it. Thanks for the input dodgeboy!

Nothin' bro, it looks sick on your wheels! Your truck looks really good now lowered and everything! I just didn't want that look on my grille, I did it once and didn't like it so I painted it the same as my truck.

yea a wet sand could help. But if you are doing it with spray cans you will never get it to look like your trucks paint

Haha, I was just joshin' ya. Thanks I appreciate the feedback.

I used dupli color Chrysler Color Brilliant black and Dupli color clear on my grill and ram emblem up front. It looks great and shines nicely.
