you joined DF to obtain info about your truck. and i am in the same situation as you...soooo many choices about CAI. however, hammer has given soo much info. and out of all the info, i am going with the home depot CAI. that is what hammer seems to be saying is the best as well. ALSO, by joining this forum, it kinda goes hand in hand with being able to eventually DIY.
and say you do want to spend $300 on a CAI..great, fine, but if your not doing any more mods to the engine or exhaust off the bat, just do the home depot one until then. $60 while saving up to di the other mods seems reasonable. i plan on doing my CAI during memorial weekend. hopefully by the end of the year new headers and exhaust. BUT, during the next 6 months i can save up and read up on the other mods. once these mods are complete, i should in theory have enough saveed up for a CAI. if my home depot one works just fine with these other mods, i just saved up an extra $300 or so to put towards other fun toys...think of it this way...thats my two cents

Look up a magnaflow kit. Much better flow and quality.
I got mine here for just over $400 shipped to my door. All stainless and fit's very nice.
The Flowmaster muffler flows no more than your stock set-up.
http://www.performancepeddler.com/de...CT_ID=MAG15863 offer $400 and see what they counter offer.

Personally, when I swapped out from my old aFe kit and dropped some cash on my new vararam I can honestly say it has made a difference via ET's and 0-60 times. I picked up 2 tenths in my 0-60 and 4 tenths in my 1/4 over the old setup. Then again I also do not believe that just an intake will give you the results I got even if its the same intake since I have done so much to get it running strong. CAI are a supporting mod, not a "main event" mod so hge gains just wont happen wih them alone.
Exhaust, just stay clear of flowmasters and you'll be good. They dont flow very well and you sacrifice performance for a few extra decibles. Also, unless you like the chrome tips sticking out the side/back of your truck, there is NO reason, let me re-emphisize that, THERE IS NO REASON to spend the extra $$$ on a catback. All a cat back is, is a little better piping material, muffler and is basically for looks, 0 performance gain off it as they do not replace the restrictive Y pipe. Buy a good muffler that has the sound and performance you are after, pick up aq magnaflow Y pipe and dont worry about anything else (unless spending $400-$800 on a catback is what you want to do).

For a CAI, I was looking at this model. And I have been reading from peoples opinions and fifferent models non stop. And I have concluded this is a great model for a 05 ram hemi 1500. http://www.amazon.com/57-1533-Fuel-I...5659063&sr=1-7
Any opinions as well ? And I am condisering diy technique as well still.

Your truck already has 3" tubing from the factory, which is a good size, it just has a crudy Y pipe connection and a restrictive muffler. When you buy a catback, it only replaces up to that crappy Y pipe forward, it gives you some better tubing material gets you a new muffler and then lets the pipe exit where ever you want it for looks. Most of the time, the muffler will cost $50-$150 but the catback will cost $400-$800. You can take your truck down to any exhaust shop, have them remove the stock muffler, stock resonator, and cut out the stock Y and add in the new stuff for a fraction of the cost. The end result is you have the same sounding/performing system, minus the look and you save $200+ depending on the setup. If a pipe does rust out, you can buy a new one and have it welded in for cheaper still.
So unless you want the look of a catback, there is no point to them. One good point, however, is with a catback, most of the kits you can put together in your driveway as they are "bolton/clamp on" ready. So you can save some cost on the install there.
