Spark plug fav for hemi
Well the entire point of using Iridiums vs standard coppers is that you don't have to replace them at 30K as you do the coppers. So you may spend more per plug but you get 3X's the service life out of them. So 48 copper plugs( 3 sets of 16 ) X $2.50 each = $120.00 OR 16 X $8.00 each = $128.00.
You can go 100K on Iridiums in a healthy engine. On a vehicle like the HEMI Ram where plug changes are such a pain it can be worth it to many people to get 3X's the service life out of 1 set of plugs. It is a higher investment on parts initially but over the full 100K the Iridiums last it basically is a break even situation on parts. Labor saved( yours or that you pay for )heavily favors Iridiums.

That's just the kind of luck I have, so I went with the rubber hose to drop the plug down in the head and start the threads.
The OP has a 2005 so warranty should not be an issue unless it still has a 7/70 PTW and is under the 70K. There is no reason other than warranty technicalities to change an Iridium plug before 100K in a healthy engine. GM uses them and has 100-125K intervals and even Dodge is begining to use them and recommend 100K in some applications( 08+ 4.7L lower row = Iridiums w/ 102K interval ).

I'm confused by this. I replaced the identical plugs that came factory with my truck. That being Champion copper cores. My speedometer said 93,000 km., or converted works out to be about 55,000 miles. The truck worked fine prior to changing them, and the only reason why I did, was because 90k. is the interval that my Dodge dealership (and which I'm assuming Dodge), suggested changing them at.
What am I missing here?

The 3.7L, 07 and earlier 4.7L, and 5.7L engines all have a 30K( miles )plug change interval. That is what Dodge says. The 08+ 4.7L has a different setup. The top row of 8 plugs have a 30K( miles )change interval and use standard plugs while the bottom row of 8 plugs use Iridium plugs and have a 102K( miles )change interval.
Look in your owner's manual under maintenance. It is right there. Many dealers make things up.
I have a '06 Ram Hemi Sport, and yes, that's what the dealership told me. I will check what my manual says. I just took what the dealership said for being accurate. All 16 plugs that I took out where identical though - that being copper cores.
All 16 plugs in the Hemi are the same. Copper core has the best spark which is why Chrysler uses them to burn all of the fuel possible for emission reasons. They will go 40 to 50K without too much problem. I'm doing the recommended 30K on mine due to the lifetime powertrain warranty just to be safe.
all i use is champion stock plugs, have never had an issue with them...have pushed em pretty far too. iv heard of and seen a few guys getting a ton of misfires and throwing codes for trying out different plugs. the hemi is a picky girl.
