Default 4.56 installed.

I got the Beast back from the mech. I was really skeptical about him doing the swap since i wanted a transmission shop to do it because they have a racing back ground and they would know how to installed them properly. But at 400-500 price range i thought it was to much. So i decided to just bite the bullet and go for the other shop which is called Hoops "Mufflers". At the end everything checked out GREAT! The guy new what he was doing, no noise/wine/clanking etc.
Now the anxiety to break them tires loose begins! 490 miles left for the break inn to be complete

I wish I could find a shop to do them. Usually the places around here are cheaper but they are like 800-900 an axle just for labor around here

I don't know if there is one here, either. Gears and an Auburn will be nearly a kilobuck. Labor will push that to $1,400 or so? Ouch!

Mikey, hit up 4 Wheel Parts in Jacksonville, they will quote high but they will price match Moe's if you push them on the parts. They will also come down on the labor too, you just gotta work them like you would a car dealer.

Had a member a number of years ago who was from around there and he got a quote of up around $2400 for gears and an auburn for his 4x4, he worked them down to just under $2000 and had it done. They had a real good installer there at the time and he's never had a problem or at least didn't as of last I heard from him about two years ago.

The shop here by me who does great work cheap and has done so for a good half dozen guys I sent there, I didn't know about in '05 when I had mine done. I used 4 Wheel Parts in Orlando. Same thing, they had me up around $2400 and I went back with printouts of prices I found online. I acted like I was gonna shop the hell out of them on the labor too and got them down to just over $1700 for my two axles and Auburn. It did take some homework and three trips (40 miles away for me) to get them to get right on the price, but in the end, they did.

Mine have never had a hint of a whine and they did the 500 mile check and lube change for the price of the lube, which was something like $22...

2500 @ 75 ain't too bad. In 5th gear with 3.92's I am turning 2000rpm @ 70mph with my stock 33" tires.

I'm right at about 2050 @ 70 mph but I'm running 35s. So you can see the need for more gear with larger diameter tires. You also have to remember, with the 5.9, you don't have a 545rfe which essentially has TWO overdrive gears, so you will tach a bit higher...
