These are the upgrades....please answer.
^ What he said... I couldn't tell you if you'll have any issues with exhaust and a lowering kit, I wouldn't know a lowering kit from a lithotome.
BTW - HUGE kudos to ANYBODY who knows what a lithotome is without having to look it up...

I dont know what a lithotome is..lol, so I will have to look it up. Ok then I will ower it first. Can I say in a completely innocent way I love you guys. You all not you stuff. Ok then just to reiterate ONE more time. If I am going to do headers make sure they are stainless and coated and long tubes because shorties wont really be worth it on the 5.7L. And I can keep my cats with LT headers but I will have to move the cats back about 14 inches and have to do some minor custom fab work. Lower my truck first then worry about the exhaust piping after the fact. And I can implement a diffeerent muffler with an exhaust kit besides what comes with it but will just have to add little extra pipe and do some welding ??? Does that about cover it on my 2005 RC/SB/2WD/HEMI.....And what do you all recomment as far as better shocks once I lower my vehicle with a 2/4.5 kit (I was thinking the nitro 2 drop shocks ??)..Thanks GUYS you rock !!!
wow...my honest advise is dont buy a exhaust kit, buy the headers, muffler(s) you want and have a shop fab and mandrel bend everything to your liking, after you lower it. nitro 2 drops are great for dropped trucks, you can also get shock extenders and use any shocks you wish at that point...monroes, kyb's, yaddi yadda...wtf is a what...lithotome...Hammer you are 1 crazy man...
jusjay727 thanks for the response. I was thinking that a kit would be the ONLY way to get the dual rear split exits behind the tires. I called multiple exhaust shops in my area and ALL of them said to do the kit because of the mandral bending they could not get that dual side exit done. So if anything I "MIGHT" do headers although hammer doesnt see the point of shorties. Ill probably just keep factory piping or have an exhaust shop at least do new cat back piping and have them weld in a cherry bomb extreme and then have the shop use dual outs that dump underneat the truck. My ideal set up is to use the flowmaster kit as I have said in my other post and exhange out there HD 50 SERIES muffler with the cherry bomb extreme and have the muffler shop weld a few inches of stainless pipe on it. However after multiple discussions with the boys on here I will be LOWERING the truck first thing with a 2/4.5 from McGaughys.
where do you live? those must be cheesy exhaust shops cause real ones bend pipe, McGs kit is a great choice, and i would have to agree with crazy hammer, long tubes on hemi all the way, shorties for us 4.7l guys...
Ok, a Lithotome is a medical instrument used in the late 1700s to early 1800s to remove gall stones. It usually ended up killing the patient or at the very least causing them more harm than the gallstones did. My point was that I'm not a very good one to give advice where a lowering kit is concerned, LOL...
But I got to agree with Jay, you either live in Addis Ababa or you ain't calling the right shops. When I did mine, I needed some custom pieces done and simply brought a tracing on cardboard to my local shop (and not a mom/pop either, but a Meineke) where they cut/bent me what I needed. I also had them fab me a "Y" to replace the ****ty stock one for $35. Of course, way back in '05 I didn't know the stainless Maggy "Y" even existed and was $25 and btw, looks a lot less restrictive than the one they made me (although my custom one is a good bit better than the factory one).
Almost any decent shop has a mandrel bender, matter of fact, I don't know how you could possibly open an exhaust shop without one...

You guys are flippin awesome. As for the gullstone instrument I will pass on that, lol. Thanks J.J. for backing me on me McGaughys choice for lowering it made me feel a little better about my decision. And as for the "Y" pipe , what exactly does it do. What is its purpose and how does it help you if you upgrade it ? Also I am now thinking that when I lower my truck rather than paying flowmaster $425 for the kit for stainless stell 3" pipe (Which tech on a 2005 Hemi the pipe already is stainless and 3" out. I am just gonna hav ethe exhaust shopo take my muffler off, add a cherry bomb xtreme 3" inch in single with a 2.5 or 3" out dual and have the shop add about 6 inches of stainless pipe out the muffler and just let the exhaust dump out under the truck. Because I really feel its a waste for the flows since all I am really paying for is to have the pipes pre made to exit behind my rear tires on both sides. At this point I would rather save about $325 and just add the muffler and have some basic welding done. If I sound bonkers please let me know, on ther other hand if what I am saying actuall makes sense please tell me so I feel better, lol. And if I do indeed do LT pacesetters should I go ahead and just throw on two better cats from either cherry bomb or magnaflow ? That just sorta makes sense to do that to me on paper if your doing upgraded headers and a new Y pipe. And since I am thowing everything at your two including the kitchen sink, I sort fo have a random upgrade question that I dont personally hear alot of people taling about. On the 5.7L do people upgrade the camshaft ?
P.S. I counted 3 questions in red so I am looking for at least 3 answers..LOL.
Thanks Guys !!!!!

The Y-pipe is where the two sides come together on the exhaust. The factory Y-pipe looks restrictive due to the crushing of the two individual pipes where they enter it. The upgrade here is to install an aftermarket Y-pipe like the Magnaflow one to eliminate this restriction. As for performance, I cannot say for sure how much can be gained by this alone, but I know I will be changing mine when I have my exhaust upgraded.
As for the cats, my suggestion is to reuse the factory ones. As long as they are still working, they will flow as well as aftermarket ones, and no performance gains can be had by replacing them if they're still good. Have the exhaust shop fit them in with the new exhaust work. This will save you quite a bit of money and you'll still have the same performance as you would if you replaced them.
As for the camshaft, someone else will have to give you an answer for that. I have not done that on mine, nor have I looked into doing it, so I don't have anything very helpful to offer you. You will no doubt see an increase in performance, but depending on what you will be using your truck for, the cam you choose needs to compliment the usage of your truck. You will also need to make sure that you include any other components that need to be replaced along with the camshaft, INCLUDING a custom tune for the PCM.

Ron your answers were broken down to simply understand which is great for someone like me who doesnt know half of what you other guys do so thanks a bunch. I will say that is the one thing I heard and can agree on that "IF" you change your shaft it has to be the right kind depending on usage and your computer has to be re taught which can cost some bank. And so I guess I will also use the factory cats as well. And I will look into the Y pipes. Did my idea on the welding of a muffler and bypassing a full exhaust system make sense ?
P.S. Hammer, J.J, Ron you all live in florida and I realized that my info didnt state anything. I am in TAMPA ...
