Yes, I believe you have the idea. The change from 3" to 2-1/2" at the collector on the headers will be short. The cats will be as close to the header as possible, then they will have 2-1/2" pipe from each of them to the MF (no pun intended ) y-pipe, then a single 3" from there to wherever the muffler will be, then out the back of the truck. I personally like to not see the exhaust at all, only hear it. That's why I'll have mine tucked up high and dumped at the rear bumper; cut even with the bottom of the bumper. The only thing about the exhaust that will be seen is the humid exhaust blowing out from it on cold days until the engine warms up.

That way would save me tons of cash..lol...and lets face it, MF brand is a real MF (pun intended lol). Ok so wont the end of the header just fit into the cat or do i have to bend metal or weld something ?

And guys whats a good alternative to the cherry bomb xtreme. I just saw that its aluminized steel and not stainless. I am looking for stainless with 3 in 2.5 dual out and that sounds similar. Any suggestions ???

The stock cats on my truck are 2-1/2" in/out or close enough that they will fit nicely with that size pipe. The Pacesetter LT's come with a 3" collector, so it would have to be reduced to 2-1/2" to easily weld the cats on.

I don't know about stainless steel, but my Spintech muffler (3441XL) is made of really solid-feeling metal and sounds really good. It has a similar sound as the mufflers I used to hear so often on Mustangs. It doesn't really drone except for maybe just a little bit around 2,000 rpm, but nothing too bad at all. It has a nice performance sound and a bass tone to it at idle and slightly above that will set off car alarms.

And does anyone know what size the MF Y pipe section should be ? They off many choices on the inlet and outlet size. I wanna make sure I buy the right set up. I imagine its 3" out but what are the inlet sizes suggested ? I dont wanna lose low end torque here and get loss of velocity.

And after reading your post a few above mine. Whats the factory pipe dimenions on a hemi 1500 2005 ? What size pipe goes to the y adapter ? And what size is it from the header to the cats ? I know I am probably repeating myself a bit, but the devil is in the details.

I realize I just keep asking but I cant get enough info on this stuff. Hammer I like your idea about the LT pacesetter but they are NOT stainless steel which I did not know. I need stainless when I head up north with snow and salt and what not. What is your retake on the GIBSON LOG HEADERS MODEL # GP311SC ? Might I see "SOME" difference, and I mean its gotta be better for the vehicle anyways , right ? I would like to think anything is better than stock. And then this way they bolt it fit on to the piping to the cats. I just add the bigger why adapter (just I need ideas for size) I am thinking 2.5 inlet ? (I know the outlet will be 3") then just have that 3" factory pipe ride into my muffler 3"in / 3" or 2.5" dual out and then have the exhaust shop put on stainless dual exhaust pipes and dump under the truck. Thoughts gentlement ???
