Question check engine light on

hey guys, so i was getting ready to go to a family reunion on sunday when my check engine light turned on. i was around an 1/8th of a tank of gas. so i went to napa and got some lucas oil fuel treatment and put it in and put around 45 bucks in the tank. light went off as soon as i put the lucass oil in and tightened the cap down.i was thinking maybe i didnt have the cap tightened down all the way and that was causing the light to come on. but then today im driving down the road and it turned on again for no reason i could find. so i disconnected my battery and waited a bit. started it back up and no check engine light.....any ideas what that couldve been? im glad its off but kinda freaked me out cause i just bought it lol.

Pull the code it will be stored. Could be anything like a minor evap leak (maybe gas cap), EGR valve starting to munk up, O2 sensor starting to go, etc. No way of knowing without pulling the code...

Some '04s don't respond to the "key dance", but you could try it: on/off, on/off, on and write down the codes shown on the odometer. Sounds like an evaporative emissions issue. BTW, if you're in the habit of running it down that low, a CEL will be the least of your problems.

As you know, fuel is liquid and liquid absorbs heat. So it helps keep your pump cool

go check what I posted in your other thread because the part AT FULL RETAIL - AT THE DEALER IS LESS!!! if you can turn a socket, you can swap the EGR out in under 10 mins. Easiest place in the world to get to...
