I don't know what to tell you about the 4.7 and the SuperTruck exhaust... I used Gibson when I had my 03 Dakota with the 4.7 (did the split rear) and loved it. I have used their systems on 3 seperate trucks, each a differant system, each time impressed. I never had a problem with them wearing out or any of that. I gotta say that the supertruck is LOUD when you get on it with the Hemi (according to their site, it is the loudest exhaust they produce for any make/ model). I did have one problem when I first got the SuperTruck... didn't fit. In 05,Dodge came out with the Powerwagon, based on the 2500 chassis... soGibson came out with a new exhaust for the PW, and did not change what they had for the 2500. Long story short, we worked it out that whatever changes they made to the PW they did for all 2500, so I had to get the PW exhaust.Gibson just sent me a new one (minus the tips) and told me to keep the old exhaust... so I sold it on ebay to make up some of the cost. Very decent company. Looks sweet too.
I had a 2002 4.7 and put a Gibson Exhaust on it. HUGE difference bottom end and it sounded great. I also put a Volant Cold Air intake, and Jet Chip in it, butthe Exhaust was first and there was a big difference. I was even able to install it myself.
Yeah... the install doesn't get any easier... it might be difficult to pull out the old one but all there is to install the SuperTruck is a single U bolt.
It's been 2 weeks since Gibson has had my return. Still haven't seen the refund nor have they responded to my emails. They will be getting a phone call tomorrow morning.
