Default RE: Thinking of running 37s, anyone think it'll work?

Anyone tow with their Power Wagon? I really like the Power Wagon, and am thinking about getting rid of my 99 Qcab Cummins 3500 and getting a PW. I tow my TJ or my SRT-4 ACR on an open trailer about once a month. (About 5000 to 6000 Lbs depending on what all I'm bringing with). Just wondering how the Hemi does with a moderate load behind it. Thanks Murf

Hi, I tow a 3 axle trailer for work and tow about 5-8k lbs, and I have had no problem. the HEMI has plenty of Power and mileage isn't that bad towing either...10mpg.... But It's a Blast to 4x4 in! Just to see the look of the "jeepers" as my stock full-size wheels as good as theirs..It's a wee bit bigger so as long as I can "fit" on the trail I can wheel as good if not better!
But if all you want to do is use it for a tow vehicle I would get a New Ram 3500 HD with the Cummins Much better mileage

I have been thinking about the milage thing, I get ~17 MPG with my Cummins, but with diesel being 30-40 cents a gallon more, combined with the more expensive maintenece and repair parts for the Diesel the Hemi is starting to look like a more viable alternative. I wish DCX would offer a Power Wagon with the Cummins, extra weight or not. Decisions Decisions Decisions... Power Wagon with a Hemi/Mega Cab with a Cummins/SRT-10 QC. Too many damn choices...

I towed a 5000# enclosed trailer all over MI for a day about a month ago. Steady, stable, plenty of power, and the hemi sounds great under load. I have wheeled with a friend in a diesel and it did well, but the lockers and winch sold me on the Wagon. So far the little wheeling I've done, it has seemed too easy. I haven't needed the lockers yet.

So, does anyone know for sure if 35" tires will fit without rubbing on a Power Wagon with no additional lift?

I don't know if its a consciedence, but did anyone else notice it comes with the old shifter-style transfer case. I thought the new automatic trucks used the turn **** so the floorboards were clear for passengers. I prefer feeling of the 4WD engauging personally, but I was wondering if Dodge was just emptying the parts bin or if the old style is stronger/more rugged than the new electronic ****?

I don't know if it's any stronger, I think the engineers wanted to give the truck that "old school" feel. I like it, you know it's engaged, no guessing. The difference in engagement between this truck and my 2001 are night and day, clicks right in every time. My 2001 balked every time I tried; just for 4WD HI.

Also, a friend had an older 5 speed diesel-club cab, with a floor shift 4WD, and we had 6 adults in that thing many times with no room issues. His wife always sat in the middle and she never complained. Well, she complained, but not about leg room.

yes 35's will fit with no extra lift. i put 35x12.5x17 bfg mts on mine at 2000 mi. i just ordered the rancho 4" kit from 4wheel parts for 686 delivered with 4 rs9000 shocks. 37's will require a lift of at least 2" and wheel spacers. I have #2007 purchased 3/31/05.

Awsome truck, the power wagon, as for my use in a truck, I don't need it as I seldom go off road, I have factery orderd a 2500 SLT 4x4 with six speed and the 5.7 and #373 ltdslip reg cab 8 ft box, ( work truck ) basicly the same truck minus the dodge perks and price.

I was under the asumption all 2500 4x4 had rack and pinion steering, just today I found out the 2500 has the old ball and jiont type stearing, I a little disheartin by this, But I still can't wait to get my truck...

I'm not looking for a sports car, but I have allways viewed rack and pionion stearing, as better, if you want to steer me in the right direction, it's all good, the Power wagon is awsome looking.
