Default ANY MPG INCREASE WITH K&N DROP IN

I just got a 03 dodge ram QC 4X4with a 5.9l.I was looking to get the 4.7 but found a good deal with the 5.9 (i didn't know about the poor mpg).

i was wonderingif the drop in K&N give any increase in mpg's.

several years ago i had a dakota with the 3.9i bought a K&N and it seemed to help.

thanks

I dropped one into my 04 Hemi regular cab and got about 1-2 increase. As long as I don't hammer the pedal it will get around 14mpg but I usually end up with 12.5 or 13.

Good thing I didn't buy it for mileage.

The 5.9 is a gas hog! I had a 1998 1500 RC 4x4 and with a 3" body lift and 35's it rarely saw double digit MPG's. Technology is a wonderfull thing. Over 100 more HP in the Hemi with better gas mileage!
I put a drop K&N in my Hemi right after I got it (bone stock) and if it made a difference, it was too slight to tell. The K&N CAI did make about a 1-2 MPG difference however.

Going strictly off of the "Lie-O-Meter", MPG went up 0.6 with the drop in.

On my 05 Hemi, the overhead went from 13.9 to 14.2. Was that the K&N or just driving habbits over that time, hard to say.

I got 1-2 mpg better off of the K&N drop in filter. I got 2-3 better from the K&N 63-1533 CAI. Do the math the K&N CAI or drop in filterwillpay for itself in fuel savings alone in less than a year.

It will improve if the one in it is dirty.
I got one for my 08, just so I wouldn't ever have to buy another filter again.
