I cannot wait to see pictures of this thing powered up in your dash. I am actually quite jealous..... Currently don't have the time or recources to start project like that, but I will someday for sure.... It would be really sweet if you could tie in like engine paramters and tire pressures, back up cameras and such as well.... Back up camera shouldn't be too bad... decent webcam and extension cables...??

I'm just planning on hooking a camera up to the monitor. It has 2 A/V hookups as well as the computer SVGA connection. It's going to take some doing getting it to switchfromVGA to AV then back to VGAwhen I put it in reverse, but there's directions online that tell you how to do it.... If not, just hit the AV button, and viola, instant reverse cam...

Ya know, if you can find some kind of PC card that can interface with the truck's CAN bus, you may be able to monitor various items.

They have setups for certain cars out there you can buy, none for chrysler that I can find though. I'm not planning on hooking anything to the factory wiring, running my own power wire from the battery back to the computer, and maybe hooking a relay into a 12v ingnition source, that's it. I don't want to give the dealer any more reasons to deny service if anything electrical goes out in my truck during the 36 warranty...

I am absolutly impressed... I'll chime in the same as everyone else, I want one! I saw a book at Borders a year or so ago that detailed out how to build a computer for your ride. I flipped through and it looked quite complicated. I imagine that the skills of learning how to rewire your own computers comes in quite handy... that's where my downfall would be.

Good luck with this project.
Your work looks impressive.
It is challenging so take a break every now and then
to ponder how everything will fit
and how to protect it from the effects of long term vibration.

Enjoying these posts & pictures.

I had a question about the computer, how are you going to mount it, and how are you wiring everything.
