Default 2004 Ram Super 40

Hello all,
I just bought a 2004 Ram Q-cab 4X4 with a 4.7 and manual trans. It is currently bone stock, but I'm getting a Flowmaster super 40 put on tomorrow. At $155 installed, I couldn't resist. At least it will SOUND like it has a lot of power! Is it going to be terribly loud inside the cab at cruising speed? I pretty much have my mind made up on it, but still curious. I guess I could wait 24 hours and find out for myself, but I'm kind of impatient!

Also, has anyone actually seen any performance or mileage improvements with this?

Thanks!

The super 40 is loud and it depends on you if you'll like it or not...I think they sound really good but the interior noise is too much for me because my truck is a DD and has MDS. I went with a magnaflow because it's a straight -through muffler and out flows the flowmaster...some would argue that you'll lose some low-end torque with the magnathough. My personal opinion is that there's more then enough backpressure with the stock cats and manifolds to retain the low-end torque.

I had a super 40 on my truck for 2 days, damn near drove me crazy, the drone was horrible. It would make my teeth rattle and give me a headache. I had it swapped for the 50 HD and its perfect. Quiet at idle and cruise but roars at full throttle!

Just had a Super 40 installed on my 03 QCSB 4.7 alil bitago. They just replaced the stock muffler withit, and it still exits out the side. And in my opinion its not THAT loud on the inside, after reading alot of posts simular to the ones above saying how loud it was, I was extremely suprised about how quiet it was on the inside. On mine they did mount it farther back than the original muffler (it requires a spacing pipe to make up for the huge size of the original), which probably helps on drone. And also they mounted the muffler vertically (no clue if that makes a difference but hadn't seen itmounted that way aloton other trucks with that much room underneath). I have driven at all speeds for various lengths and had never noticed any drone. Maybe in a regular cab, or with turndowns its really loud. But after having the muffler and hearing people say its "WAY TOO LOUD", it suprises me. Sorry for the length...

i had a 03 4.7 w/ flowmaster super 40, high flow cat, the truck sounded good as long as your not hopping on it, they have no power esp. the quad cab, i had problems with valves sticking so i traded it for a 04 hemi, i put the super 40 on that with 2 high flow cats, its f*ckin loud as f*ck! TOOO LOUD! but i like waking people up when i come home at 3am!!!! goodluck!
