Towing
Good day all,
I just have a question when it comes to towing. I haven't used my baby to tow yet, but with the possible future purchase of a boat I'm wondering if I should just put a ball on the rear bumper or have one of the under body mounted hitch's put on my truck?
Could you all provide me with pros and cons of both?
Thanks,
Cliff

RE: Towing
Snafu is dead on, except for the part about the tow point and getting stuck. It's really only good for towing a trailer.......oh, and disabled Fords and Nissans, No GM product could make it far enough off of the road to get really stuck.
Bumper mounted ***** are only good for up to 500 lbs. in my opinoin.
500 lbs isn't jack. Sure it would be fine for a Jet Ski but, if I remember right , you sadi boat.
Almost forgot.
Pros: Increased trailering capacities with frame mounted hitch.
Easier to just drop a ball in and go with a bumper.
Cons: Bumper mount ball will diminish load capacity, destroy bumper (and rear plate), and it will not allow for adjustment of the trailer deck if it is out of level due to an incline of the tounge to the bumper.
Frame mount is more costly and harder to install.
