Not knowing what your intentions are for the truck....
If you are after a toy in the garage that you plan on driving a few times a weekgo with the SRT.
If you are after offroad or a truck to work then get the Diesel.
If milage matters to you get the diesel, the SRT will average 10 between the city and highway if you drive it at all.
As for pricing you can get a NICE low mile 05 SRT QC for 30K. Do not pay more than that. Your first mod on a QC is a stage 2 DC PCM flash. QCs are detuned from the factory to "help" the tranny and increase the towing capacity.
If you want a real treat I know of a 05 Silver QC loaded with mods that does 10s for 39.9K. You are not touching 10s for that price doing it yourself.

well im not into off roading that much but i would say yes to a daily drive like i said my wife works two blocks from our house.. i like the power that 5.7 gives and i think that why i leaning to the srt-10 but i have heard with not alot of expense you can do the same with the cummings.. is this true???

Another consideration isthe handling. Can not do this in a cummins at these speedswithout mods.

Like I said, for a play thing the SRT. I never bought mine with any intention of driving it 10K miles a year, in snow or doing any serious hauling. I have had stuff back there, but nothing more than boxes, mulch, lawn care stuff. When Dodge introduced the SRT the executive said "It is another one of those over the top Dodge products". "It is not meant for everybody". I can dig up the presentation when I get home
