chip erased my computer
Damn I bet he feels good about starting this thread now... Problem is people do this everyday. He wasn't the 1st and won't be the last to get warranty work which was not the dealers fault. Look at it this way. How about all the horror stories about dealers putting the wood to the consumer. I'm not saying what he is doing is ok but hey it happens. But if you feel obligated to pay for a new PC go ahead and tell the you had a programmer installed. I guarentee you will be forking out $$$ for a new 1. I had something simular to your situation and the truck was over the 36/36,000 so i was looking at used PCs. they were $500+ come to find out the PC is covered under 8/80,000 so Dodge replaced it. Before you go bashing me. I took my programmer off and didn't have problems until 2 months later, so it could have been several things.
I have been told that all the programmers leave "Footprint" even once it's been returned to default. Makes sense to me, I'd be a very easy thing to program into the computer. Any time a certain parameter, (RPM, Shift point, etc... is changed, it gets logged. I really wish I could get a programmer for my new truck but it's not worth risking the warranty over, for me at least.

honeslty I hardly hear of many instances where the dealer is actually rips someone off. it's usually someone who installs a programmer and either does what this thread is about or they break something else and they are mad that dodge won't pay for their mistakes.
I had warped rotors on my truck and took it in with 12,200 miles on it. the dealer said the warranty only covers the brakes for 12,000 miles.A good dealer would stand behindwhat they sell. They did not get warpedthe last 200 miles. That sounds like a rip off to me. Nothing i did just drove the truck.Look around on dodgetalk and you can find many Dodge dealerhorror stories.
For all we know.... these so called horror stories are'nt really that bad... jsut twisted around and manipulated to sound even worse so that who is at fault does'nt seem like such a .... retard.... idiot.... s***head... and so on....
I dont get it...12,000 means 12,000 not 12,200. Under 12,000 and making the repair means standing behind what he sells. 12,200 means after warrenty and you want something for nothing.
so for example, if your motors blows two hundred miles after its out of warranty you won't try to get the dealer to fix it???? i mean not a lot can happen just by driving a truck two hundred miles. my grandpa had a 04 diesel that was 500 miles out of warranty and the transfer case went out so he sent the truck in to have a new one put in... he didn't say anything about warranty and the dealer said they'd fix it because it was JUST 500 miles!!!
IMO brakes and transfer case are 2 different things. As stated above,"the brakes didnt warp in the last 200 miles". He didnt take it in when he knew something wasent right until AFTER the warrenty ran out. When something is wrong with my vehicles, it gets checked out right away.
i goes to the "stand behind what they sell" i know they aren't the same things dumb ***. and we don't all always have the time to let our trucks sit in the shop for 2-3 days. while the stealership is "looking" at it.
