Default TAILGATE STOLEN IN TULSA

Well this morning i had the pleasure of walking out to my truck and discovering that some a-hole stole my tailgate. If you know of anyone selling a Dodge dark gray tailgate and does not own that truck let me know. I would like to meet them! I am getting to the point where i am becoming that old pissed off dude who is willing to take justice into my own hands rather then the courts slaping the criminal on the hand. Guess i will pay my deductable, get a new tailgate, and then pay higher premiums because i actually used my insurance properly! Glad i have a locking gas cap so no one takes 26 gallons of my 3.19 a gallon liquid gold!

If I was you I would keep an eye on ebay and craigslist. Just to see if someone puts it up for sell on there.

i have a friend that is an ebay and craigslist master! So he is working his magic on that end. I am in the process of contacting all of the salvage yards in the tulsa metro area to let them know to be on the look out as well as find me a replacement. Then its nice to be dating a police officer, yep! She is working the back channels so i have that end covered too.

Besides having the dealerships name on the tailgate, I also have acid etched a code onto most of my removable parts (old habit from growing up in southern california). When i get my new tailgate i am going to stick a gps unit in that bad boy. Then i can do my part in improving the community!

Believe me.... i really want to find out who stole it because i want revenge. The insurance part will get me a new tailgate but I want a-hole johnson and to not let him profit from it.

when you get a newtailgate put a hose clamp around the hinge thathas the slot in it, or if you remove your tailgate alot then just get a poplock. Hose clamp is .75or if you go thepop lock route that is like $25, pretty cheap compaired to buying a new tailgate if some retard decides to steal it.

My dealership use to take the gates off and the space tire out while the trucks sat on the lot for this reason. They have since put the gates back on, but the spares still sit inside. People who steal like this are the lowest of the low.

I once had $900 worth of money orders stolen from a mail box near Mesa AZ. I was able to stop payment on the $400 one, but the $500 one was forged, then cashed. I got a copy of it form the money order company. It was used for rent at some apts in Mesa AZ. I filed a police report from Ohio. Did little good. The Mesa police are VERY BAD AND COULD CARE LESS. 6 months later I was in Phoenix, so I went to these apartments and show the management the forged money order which they cashed, as well is my reciept for the money order. They then gave me the apt number of the person who did the deed. I had it all setup. Called the cops. Took 2.5 hours for them to show!! Then after all that, his wife said he was not home. I left really pissed off. Never followed up more after that. The cop said for $500 that the Mesa police would probably not bother with it any further. I handed them all the info they need to lock the guy up and they did not care.

If your insurance rasies rates for a claim like that you have the wrong insurance.

i dont remove the tailgate at all. i lower it a few times when i am hauling an oversized load but for the most part its up. I was looking at a pop lock but did not get around to it as soon as i should have (obviously). Going to get my new tailgate thru the insurance but its the principle of the whole deal and my frustration.

94rt10ohio,

what a story! I would have sat on the apt until that low life came home. I guess its not only the fact that something i own was taken but the fact that most of the time the police just don't care unless the crime involves drugs or a dead body. While my girlfriend works in law enforcement i have come to the realization that you can't depend upon any form of city, county, state, or federal gov't agency for crap. You have to be proactive in protecting yourself, family, and your property. And my next comment is borderline criminal in itself but i am starting to think that i need to be proactive in exacting justice against the low life that commit crimes against me, my family, and my property. The girlfriend carries her glock with her and i have my CCL and Sig next to me. Unfortunately i would be the one who would serve a life term in the pen if i shot someone. The same criminal would get maybe two years for shooting someone.

How about a pic, showing how it looks with the hose clamp/pop lock installed...some of us have no idea what your referring to.

just got done calling around to all of the salvage dealerships in the tulsa metro area. All of them have my name and number and are on the look out for the tailgate. Also i called the police department and they have seen a spike in truck tailgate thiefs this past two weeks.

IF YOU OWN A TRUCK AND HAVE NOT SECURED IT FROM BEING REMOVED - PLEASE RUN OUT AND GET A POP LOCK! I DELAYED AND NOW ITS GOING TO COST ME THE POP LOCK AND $500 FOR MY DEDUCTABLE. THATS A LOT OF ROUNDS OF GOLF. FOR THOSE IN OKLAHOMA $500 IS A NIGHT OF DRINKING! HA.
