You must be referring to the 1994-2001 body style like this one:

That is a 1500, but the 2500 looks the same.

Try posting in the second generation ram forum on this web site. You said you needed a crew cab... I don't believe that those years offered one. Just standard and extended cab. Other than that, they haven't made them for 7 years, so your best bet is doing a google search. You could probably find a used diesel 2500 model for cheap because they are so old.

Whoops, my mistake. I am after the 3rd gen shape, whichi am starting to realise is still the current shape. OK, I am starting to think this: 2500 model, 2wd, diesel or 5.7 petrol crew cab. Anyone got a rough idea what I could pick one of those up for? Also what is the zip code for Vegas? I may as well start there.

Don't gamble away all your truck money, lol. Vegas zip code is 89123. According to kbb.com, you should be able to get a used 2005 short bed crew cab 2 wheel drive 5.7L automatic transmission for $15,000, and the diesel equivelant would be around $22,500. That is $19,176 & $28,765 in your currency, according to this converter that I found. Those are just rough estimates, but it should give you an idea.

What, you mean you dont walk away from the casino with more money than what you came in with!!!! TV has lied to me

That is awesome info ivaskaj, just what I am looking for. Yes thats about right for the dollarconversion too. I also have to factor in shipping = $6000 NZD, compliance costs $1500 and then RHD conversion $18000. Starts to look like an expensive vehicle. but not when you compare it to this one on our equivalent of evilbay... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-151750625.htm

Have a look at that for a price! But having said that, they arent selling at the moment as we are starting to feel the results of your credit crunchhitting our banks down here. So they might become cheaper, but not by a huge amount. Still makes a trip up your way seem attractive.

lol. good luck man! hopefully you get what you need. there is plenty of good info shared here and i think youll have an easy time finding a truck now. i would get a diesel though. costs less in NZ, and gets better mileage. Dirty, gotcha! i thought that the sport was also a trim seeing that the sport rams had the matching grill to the body paint. my bad! lol.

Holey hell, that is a lot of money. I guess that a total of $40,000 beats almost 100k. Maybe you should move here to the USA? LOL. I had no idea that American trucks were so highly valued.

Yeah if I was a single man, I would have definetely jumped ship and tried life in another country, but there are too many ties to NZ, (wife, family, house, business, property etc) that tend to keep you busy! US trucks are valued because of the high level of power, size, luxury andthe fact that they tend to stand out I guess. And also the high cost of getting them road legal means that only reasonably well off people can drive them. But if you are like me, and hate paying retail for something, there is always another way, and so thats what Im doing talking to you guys.

On the diesel thing, are they a nice thing to drive, or do they tend to be a bit agricultural? most diesels here tend to be a bit lacking in power, and the last thing I want is something thats a bit gutless as I will be driveing it everyday, and only towing about one weekend in 6.

what you expect us to be up at all hours of the night to answer your questions, wait I don't work so I'm always up at this time LOL.

On iPhone so can't post links, go to youtube.com and type in cummins race and watch the videos of what the dodge cummins diesels are capable of. It'll be louder in the cab than in a gasser but they have *****.

How are you importing it? Have you considered talking to a dealer in Auckland and see if you can work a deal with a veh that you find in the states and have them import it, bet a dealer gets a better price on import fees, that way you save some money and they make some money.

but if its gonna cost that much them really buy a diesel, it will last you so so much longer than the gas will and I'm sure with those import prices I'm sure you're gonna want to keep it for a long time. Also you should look into what repairs cost over theres since those parts probably aren't as common since the rams are scarce over there.

Theres this thing called a "time zone". Now,in a "time zone", some people in the worldsleep, and some people are at work, and some people tap away on their keyboards. Guess what time it is here? only 10 o'clock on monday night!
OK, I'll stop taking the **** now

I'll have a look at youtube tomorrow when I should be working and check it out, I guess its impressive?

And yes, i will use a specialist importer to send it home. Beleive it or not, there is quite a few kiwi's living and working in the states that do just that, send american cars and trucks back here. Its quite a big business for some. Type "beach hop New Zealand" into google and have a look at what we have going on here for fans of american muscle.

I will repair it myself as I own my own workshop, but I guess that parts will be expensive. but I will bring back with me a full set of brakes, filters, and common consumables in the back seat, saves on freight later on!
