when you buy one of those programmers to increase torque hp ect do you have to leave it plugged in or run it and then take it off, and if you can take it off can you program more than one car

You plug it in, add the tune, then unplug it.
They are VIN locked, so that you can only tune 1 vehicle at a time. If you wanted to tune another vehicle, you would have to return the first vehicle back to the stock tune.

are they worth the investment, im not too worried about like little gas gains and whatnot but in the overall picture is it worth dropping the couple hundred on that as opposed to other things

shift timing improvement itself is worth it for many people. dollar for dollar, programmers are about average for hp increase. the diagnostics, datalogging, and scanner function that some of them have is really invaluable at times.

i got a superchips 3815 i'm lookin to get rid of, pm me if you're interested.

I had a Diablosport Predator on my 01 F150 5.4L and noticed a decent power gain in 93 octane mode. It also gained almost 2mpg which outweighed the $.20 a gallon difference.
It greatly improved the shifts as well as removed the power drop (throttle modulation)when shifting. The diagnostics were great as was the live data logging. Whenever they finally release one for the Hemi trucks, I'll be getting one.
In my opinion they are worth the money.

^^^ +1....I loved my predator and it's great for troubleshooting your car/truck. Even if you have heavy mods (cam, FI, etc) you can get a custom tune through diablosport emailed to you....very handy.

I have the 3714 which is specific to the 03 hemi only and I will not part with it. Makes me enjoy driving the truck even more.
