Thanks for higher rates on RAM's. The rates are based on the number of claims on each model of vehicle, so add one more to the RAM so everyone's rates will be effected.

Wow this is why all kids should be required to start out driving 1980's cavaliers, omni's, civics, corollas, sentras, celicas, and escorts for atleast 2 years. That way they can screw up the crappy cars before burning daddies hemi or wrecking daddies vette. Refering to crappy car listed above does not include (GLHS Omni or the Celica All Trac).

That's only one part of many for determining rates.....like your record, gender, single/married, year of vehicle, population of the county you live in...goes on and on.

I don't blame the guy for making a claim...at least he has insurance unlike some of the true asses out there driving without even liability. I don't know what i'd do if I was in his position...hopefully I don't have to find out. The good part is i'm sure he won't do it again..

I understand that there are other factors in insurance rates. I definitely wouldn't go around bragging about repeatedly running thru 3ft of water and then turning it in to my insurance company because I filled the engine full of water and broke a bunch of rods and such. That's just asking for trouble!!!

I thought I already pointed out that if it turned out bad, he should never mention it again. now look what you started!

I'm guessing this will only affect the rates in his area since it's weather related, not the rates for the model.

and def +1 on kids starting with crap cars first. and they should have to buy it themselves too!

+1 on buying their cars themselves. There are some upscale places around where I live that parents hand their 16y/o's keys to a BMW, Lexus or Benz. And not your 1980 BMW, I mean brand new, convertable, pimp. And no wonder why they kill themselves or trash it the first few times out. No responsibility, no accountability. And no respect because they didn't have to bust their *** to have it.

yup I see kids with '08 mustangs on my other forum all the time... 1 drove his through a fence.. all the others parents bought it for them and let them buy a supercharger.. hmm when I finally have kids hes gonna work for everything he has just like I did.. My parents never had anything to give and it made me a better person cause if I screw something up it comes out of my pocket.. and now I make way more money than my parents ever have and have 2 new cars (30k) dollar stang I paid cash. I am 2 classes short of a bachelors degree that I paid for myself, not mommy and daddy flipping the bill and me partying my a$$ off and flunking out... just my little rant, I dislike spoiled unappreciative kids....

i also agree on kids working for their ****. a good amount of my friends have nice cars and they havent paid a dime for it. ya, im a "kid" at only 17 and IMO drive a pretty nice truck, but guess who paid for it. worked summers in the florida sun dragging brush for my dads business. and honestly, id rather drive my truck that I paid for, rather than a brand new one my parents got me. it gives you a sense of pride and respect for my things
