drowned engine
I was ****ing arround in a parking lot after a severe thunder shower and there was about 3 feet of water in the lot. I was going back and forth through the water and then my truck stalled. 24 hours later my truck is still there and it does not want to start. Any ideas why

RE: drowned engine
If you are not sure what you are doing this is what i would do. Pull all spark plug, drain engine oil and replace oil filter, take out air box and itake pipe and drain the water out. After the new oil is in the motor then you can crank the engine over with the plugs still out. After the water is out re-install the plugs it may not even hurt to squirt a little oil down each cylinder before you put the plugs back in. This would be a great time to put new spark plugs in also. Good luck buddy.

RE: drowned engine
When are people going to learn about hydro lock???
You will be EXTREMELY lucky if you havent destroyed your engine.
After all, it only takes milli secondonds for the pistons to mve up and down, find out they can't, because they cannot compress the water and then, bend rods or valves[:@]
The air box design on these trucks leaves a lot to the imagination.
This sort of "playing" shows unfortunately ignorance and inexperience. It's a very expensive mistake to make.
There are lots of posts about hydro locking on here and other forums.
Sorry for this painful lesson.

RE: drowned engine
exclty. altho i gotta wonder if he's exaggerating. I mean three feet of water is pretty deep. to put that in contrast that's up to the top of the tires and then sum. driving through that much as fast as you can is extremely stupid.

RE: drowned engine
I'm sorry but I don't think that he could even get the thing to go through 3 feet of water at more than 5 miles an hour. Anyway, you might as well try to get the water out of the thing and see if it will start up...who knows it could be undamaged.

RE: drowned engine
Even if he can drain it and start it.
He has to flush change the engine oil
trans
diffs
transfercase
they probably have vents that will allow water in
Alt is probably shot, etc.
