Default OEM Fog Lamp Kit

Hello all....new to the forum. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 STX.

I want to install the OEM fog light kit (#82209047). I have read in some places that you need to have the computer programmed to recognize the fog lights. Is this the case? My truck is pre-wired for the fog lights already.

I did this same thing with my 2007 Pacifica and had no issues there. Just wondering if the comnputer has to be re-programmed, etc. Thanks for the time.

I have heard this "rumor" I had the prewired fog lamps. I put them in and the new switch off of ebay and they worked just fine. I disconnected the battery, I don't know if it had anything to do with it or not.

I'd say buy the kit, and put it on, and if they don;t work, take it to the dealer.

The dealer had to activate mine with their StarSCAN. They didn't charge me for it which was cool of them...i've heard some are charge an hour labor for it.

Yep. I just bought mine and it does have the wiring already in place, which would leave me to believe that the computer is programmed for it.....
I will install it and see what happens. Thanks for the comments.

it is not programed for it ! the dealer has to tell it that it now has fog lights ! they only work on low beam/ running lights not with bright lights . i just had this done 3 weeks ago !they can also turn on day time head lights if you want them ..
