Default Exhaust going on tomorrow - need help to choose please!

I know you guys have had a lot of exhaust posts lately but I have to add one more....

I am scheduled to have a cat back system installed tomorrow on my '08 1500 QC SB. I have narrowed it down to 2 choices - either a Magnaflow dual side exit behind the right rear tire or a Gibson dual side exit in front of the right rear tire.

Basically I am looking for opinions on which will give me the sound I am looking for - which is a nice quiet deep rumble while at idle and a throaty (but not too loud) burst when giving it the gas. The stock exhaust is too quiet and I do not want a loud exhaust like the Flowmaster that was on my old '03 Hemi 1500.

I've checked YouTube for sample videos of each but it is really hard to tell because most people place the camera right near the exhaust outlet and the audio is all distorted.

I'm leaning more towards the Magnaflow because a lot of people say it sounds good with MDS but I have not heard much about Gibson. Also, I am not sure if the Gibson side exit in front of the rear tire will interfere with the Mopar 4" oval side steps that I ordered. Thanks guys!!!

I'd go with the Magnaflow out the rear sides. Being back there it won't be that loud in the cab, and looks good. I've heard people complain in front of the tire from their tire turning black. I know how fun it is to clean the stock Dodge 20s, but I don't know what kind you have. And if you did have the stock ones, the updated version looks easier to clean. But it still looks bad when they're all black like that.

Thanks for the input! I didn't think about the location of the outlet in relation to the cabin for noise level. Also never thought about the soot marks on the rim. I will most likely go with Magnaflow but I had to cancel my installation for tomorrow because something came up. Hopefully will reschedule for next week sometime!

Gibson super truck exhaust is very loud but sounds great and being right under the cab makes it more noticeable in the cab.

Hey Geed, check out my writeup on my exhaust install.

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-ram-tech/175490-some-mods-to-my-new-ram.html

I went with the Magnaflow si/so and I am very happy with the sound. However, I did lose low end a little bit, and gain high end a little bit. I'm pretty bummed about this. Basically, I lost power where I need it most, from idle up to about 2500 rpm, and gained some power where I rarely use it, 4000-6000 rpm. Grades that I used to be able to drive up in o/d the trans has to now kick down to get me over them, very annoying, and I find that I am driving around more with the o/d off, since the truck no longer has the torque to spin od at low speeds. However, my truck sounds great, isn't too loud, has a nice idle and definitely sounds sweet when you tach it up.

What do you guys think of the Borla cat-back systems? I've been looking at those and they seem to sound pretty good.

There's nothing wrong with Borla, personally I'm not a fan of the sound, lacks the real throaty growl in my opinion. If you're still tossing between the gibson and magnaflows, I'd go with magnaflow. Gibsons tend to be loud and intrusive while driving, Magnaflows hush up when you're tooling along...but they scream when you mash the pedal.
