i have heard great things about the 4.7s and alot of people have them. if you arent doing alot of towing/hauling then why not the 4.7, they seem to get better mpgs anyway...but then again, it is a HEMI!!!!!

lol i love the forums..

you guys are awesome.. thanks for the help.. im not even gunna think twice about a 4.7.. like i said, i made that mistake in my f150, wont do it again..

and yea, i always say im not going to mod this one (the next car) like crazy.. but those fckin mod bugs bite, and they bite hard..

my plans for the truck would be 6" lift on 36's, maybe step up to a 9" one day with a body lift, or cheat and get 8" with a leveling kit and block..

either way.. of course ill tune it, CAI, and exhaust, and try and reach 400 HP.. how much does it take to get there, anyone know for certain?..

as far as appearance i kind of want a silver or dark grey, quad cab of course, and black it out, black tail lights, black headlight housings like on the nightrunner, 5% tint, and maybe some rockstars, or other 100% black wheel.. 20's on 37's would be perfect..

but thats just me..

heres some pics of my 06 F150 i had, and my Stang...

Nice looking stang! I had an '06 GT, but after fueling issues that Ford refused to fix, I had to get rid of it. I bought the Ram about 6 months later. I still have a '66 Mustang which is my baby. I do miss the 'stang though.... it was a nice ride! After owning 2 new Mustangs (an '05 and an '06), Ford won't be getting any new money from me. I may buy another Mustang or 2 in the future - used. I'm actually planning on buying a '96-ish convertible next year for our 10th wedding anniversary (there's a story behind it).

If you want power and speed, keep the mustang and buy a used beater 4x4 truck. It's that simple. I have a 4.7 in my truck, and it is more than adequate as a truck engine, plus it has the potential to get better gas mileage than a Hemi if you drive it right. The '07 4.7 may lack 75 ft-lbs of torque over the Hemi, but it makes it's peak of 300 ft-lbs at 3,200 RPM vs 5,200 for the Hemi...worthless truck engine.

The hemi makes over 300 foot pounds at only 1200 rpms.

im trading my mustang GT in for a 08 or 07, and have found a few nice ones.. but one is a 4.7 2x4 .. not real excited about the double negative there..

and one is a 4.7 4x4, atleast its 4 wheel drive..

then one that is a 5.7 but 2 wheel drive..

and im like... wtf.. why cant i just find a 4x4 in a hemi.. I want the MDS and i deff want the power of a Hemi.. i might be able to deal with out the 4 wheel drive..

BUT.. HERES MY MAIN QUESTION...

how much different is the 4.7 vs the HEMI as far as get up and would i be pissed if i went with a 4.7?.. i made the mistake of doing that with my 06 f150, and got a 4.6.. the fcker couldnt even get out of its own way.. and coming from a mustang, no matter what i get is going to feel slow, so a 4.7 im worried will be even worse..

help me please!.. should i keep looking, and get a 5.7, or settle even trade for a 4.7?

thank you guys
Since no one has mentioned it yet...if you get a 4.7 make sure it's an 08+. The pre-08's are anemic in stock form...something like 235 hp.

The 4.7 and the 5.7 are both good engines but they're also both different technoligies. Since you're coming from ford you might like the 4.7 better since it's a SOHC engine....the hemi is a pushrod motor.

Yeah, the Hemi has most of it's torque by 1200rpm (much like the 3V 5.4L) with a very flat torque curve.
The 08 4.7 with redesigned heads is rated @ 310hp and 330lb/ft. There is much more power potential in the Hemi just from the heads alone, plus there is the SRT8 goodies that can be had from the 6.1L for more power, though it will be higher in the rpm band, but lower gears will fix that.

Let me tell you something, last year, i was seriously thinking about getting '07 hemi with mds but when i found out that my friend bought it and he said that he hates the MDS. He has a flowmaster 50 series and it sounds so horribly when the mds is on during on the highway or city. I made the right choice of getting an '04 hemi and it is the bestest ever purchased..... I love it and i would highly recommend you to get a full v8 hemi with no MDS or you will regret for the rest of your life. If you want the MDS then there is a superchips that can disable the MDS for '06 or up. Good luck thinking about it.
