Right when I pulled into the diveway I heard this sound. It sounds like like its coming from the Left Rear wheel or the the center of the diff, I cant tell.
It sounds like metal rubbing and grinding metal and kinda like its rolling around, I dont see anything on the rear rotor, but it sounds more like its in the axle tube.
The truck still moves back and forth in 2wd, sometime it makes the noise, sometimes it stops for a little bit. I had the wife move the truck back and forth about 20 feet real slow so I could listen to it, but there isnt much I can do here at home, and the shop and all my tools are 20 miles away.
HELP!!

My bet is if you determine the sound is coming from the left wheel, it's a wheel bearing.
If you determine it's in the pumpkin, well good bet it's the ring & pinion. If you have the factory LSD, even if it's been "fixed" before, well then you can probably bet the ranch as to what it is.
Pull the pumpkin cover, see if there are any broken clips in there, or metal shavings on the magnet...

Probably not, but if you determine it's coming from that left wheel area, I don't know what else would cause that kinda noise.
That would be determined by how much damage is there now. If it was indeed a failed retaining clip, it's entirely possible that it could have taken out the ring & pinion. I've also heard tell that some have actually had the inside walls of the pumpkin damaged or even pierced!
So you could be looking at an LSD (Auburn about $375 + labor, Trutrac about a hundred more) or that plus a ring & pinion or even an entire new rear end...
