I got my gears done at 4wheelparts for right around a grand installed (have to go check the receipt to give you the exact price) but that was after looking up everything online first since they price match on the parts and after I gave them a quote from another shop for labor charges they dropped their price a little more. I only have a 4x2 so it was just the rears that needed the gear swap. And just because you have 4.56 gears does not mean you're going to spin your tires everytime you punch it from a dead stop, all you need is a good set of sticky street tires under you and you will have all the grip you need to launch off the line full throttle without even a chirp.
As for "kills" I have a few under my belt alot of them are POS Ricers, but I have had some chevy's and fords do the same. They really dont know what they are getting into when the pull up next to my truck at a light, the truck looks stock (for now at least) the exhaust is really quite at idle and nothing seems out of the ordinary. So when the light turns green and I launch off the line they are usually about 6-7 cars back. And then when we get to the next light my wife always wonders why they wont pull up next to us again. They stay a few car lengths back.

Its impossible to get solid traction with the stock tires on any surface for that matter. especially when your pulling onto a raod from gravel. just gott ease on the peddle. along with fluids you should check your tb, maybe its got all crud on it. new plugs and wires too?
I would love to put 4.56's in the D, but then I would have to do front AND rear diffs, AWD FTL....
I would love to throw'em in my truck, just don't know if it's worth it for the 4.7. Buuut, if they're only $200, I just might do it. I have a "hookup" around here..... the ol' man has a very successful 10-bay transmission shop, so Im sure I could pull a string or two

That's kinda what I'm thinking. I want to change out all of my fluids, and replace my spark plugs and wires on the truck. Then I could check the throttle body to see if that has gunk built up in it. Also, would you suggest getting some fuel injector cleaner? I have a gift certificate to Orschlens, and I don't get anything from there.
