The coil springs did decrease the capability of the truck with regards to hauling and towing, but I agree with Dodge's logic. If you are going to be hauling/towing anywhere near the maximum amount for the 1500 on a regular basis, then quite simply the 1500 is NOT the truck for you. You should be bumping up to the more capable 2500. The truck would be better suited for it anyway.

The ride that you get with the coil springs is amazing for a truck. Yet it can still haul/tow what 80% of people with light duty trucks will ever ask it to. Is a win/win if you ask me.

To be honest with you all I am a Ford man. Yes, hate me all you want lol.

Though I hate to say it, I bought my 06' Ram because it was better than the 06-07 F-150. I test drove both and read reviews on both and picked the Dodge. Though the new 09' F-150...hate all you want it is the most capable 1/2 ton this year. and I dont want to hear "Well it has the least power" Its got plenty of power for what you could ever throw at it. Dont believe me? read any non bias review on the internet, and compare specs to specs.

Hey at least I drive American.

Hah I was about to type nearly the same thing I cannot agree any more I think Dodge focused more on what half ton owners use their tucks for. If they did this to the heavy duty trucks then yes that would be a fine way to castrate sales but I think Dodge really hit the nail on the head with the new trucks.

5.0L mini diesel truck, that's what those are. Another story for another time though.

To get back on topic regarding the power of the Gen II 5.7 in the 09's, it's pretty darn amazing. When you consider how heavy this truck is, the improved 5.7 is really impressive. I only have the 3.55 gears in my crew cab and it has absolutely no problem hauling this big beast around. Yet at 80mph on the interstate it's only sitting at 2,000 rpm. It surprised me how smooth it is with regards to refinement. I'm coming from an 06 Charger R/T with the 5.7 in it which also had Kooks LT headers and a Corsa catback, so it isn't like I'm not used to the power in the 5.7. Yet I'm still impressed with the get up and go in this truck.

Would you think it'd be smarter to make it less restrictive or give it more power? What they should've done is upped the power, and changed trannies, if they didn't already. Get them to better use their power. But talking about their HP makes me want one so bad.

Are you stock? My brother has an 03 Quad Cab with the 5.7 and 3.92s and I don't recall it pulling like my 09 Crew Cab with the Gen II 5.7 and I also have the 3.55s. Gears make a difference, no doubt, but so does 45 additional hp. What's the weight difference between the two, do you know?
