Might want to check them old sources out again there 'oldvee. The '08 2500 Hemi engine was unchanged from previouse years did not have the MDS feature. The only change to the '09 version is adding variable valve timing and an increase to 383 HP and 404 lb./ft. of Torque, still no MDS...

No MDS on Megacabs or 2500's. It's not great anyways. Actually doggy, slower shifting and annoying to say the least. MDS failures would default to all 8cyl since the ecu has to supply the power needed to activate the mds.

The 09 hemi's uses VCT variable cam timing not VVT variable valve timing...two different technologies. I'm still learning about it but from what I gather there's yet another valve that uses oil pressure...but this time the pressure goes to a cam sprocket that has some sort of phasing sensor which pulls/adds timing based on the oil pressure from the valve. Damn technologies..

Interestingly, on the MDS 1500 series Hemi, Dodge uses the term Variable Cam Timing. While on the specs for the non-MDS 2500 series Hemi, Dodge uses the term Variable Valve Timing. Hence why I called it VVT, since we were talking about the 2500.
