Default Tow/Haul vs OD off

I have an 08, Hemi 4x4 and these two modes are behaving exactly the same.

According to the manual tow/haul should change the shift points and allow shifting into 4th at light throttle. OD off should just lock out 3rd & 4th gears.

The shift patterns do not change with either mode, there is no noticeable engine breaking in tow/haul.

Went out with a mechanic from the dealer, he drove and after it shifted up to 3rd it then locked up the torque converter at which point he says "there you go it's in 4th in tow/haul as it's supposed to be", I tried to tell him that I think it's just locking up the TC, and even if it is shifting up to 4th and locking up the TC at the same time then it should do something different in OD off. Nope it's exactly the same.

So after he tells me his 07 Ram is the same and it is impossible for his to be wrong also I give up, I am now looking for proof of how this should work as it shifts up and locks up the TC too early whne towing or hauling a load.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Tow/haul locks out 5th and o/d off locks out 4th and 5th...you have a 5 speed tranny. The shift point are raised in both, the shifts hold longer and if you start accelerating while off the throttle (downhill or whatever) the tranny will downshift to help with braking.

So is this how yours behaves ? Cos mine doesn't at all, are there any other 06+ owners who have a problem with this ?

I might try a different dealer but I would like something concrete to show them for how it should work.

You do not lose any gears with Tow/haul, just shift points and firmness as well as auto/downshift when you touch your brakes. Helps when going down a hill pulling a heavy load.
O/D off means exactly that. Just knocks out the last gear, not 2, just one.

my 04 only has tow/haul, no overdrive button at all. my buddy has an 06, he has both buttons. my 04 seems like it does hold out of fifth with tow/haul on.
