did you know that either the 08 or 09 WRX is faster than the STI model by .4 seconds so you can pay 5k less and get a FASTER car just some useless knowledge

I would hate to be the person that has to try to work on a turbocharged and supercharged engine, I didn't even think that was possible, But Damn.

STi's and WRX's are only turbo, dont know where this whole turbo/S/C thing came up. Those pictures are custom jobs. Looks like a lot of work went into them.

very possible and not as hard as you think. but it usually also has a different intent than what you think.

Generally, the SC is there to work the low end, and the turbo the high end. Once the turbos spool up and start pounding air in, it is likely the SC is doing damn near nothing because it can't pump air any faster than the turbo.

I work for ElectroMotive Diesel. Our engine has a gear driven turbo that takes off when the exhaust pressure is high enough to drive the turbo faster than the gears> effectively a supercharger at lower load, and a turbocharger at high load.

This was done because there isn't enough exhaust pressure to run it at lower load, but still needs a huge amount of air top end (hence the one big turbo).

If you want a super/turbo, the only smart way to do it the gear driven turbo. On a regular car, a turbocharger plumbed into a supercharger super/turbo is just plain stupid. will it work? sure it will. But why not just put a small turbo and a big turbo on there, the plumbing is a whole lot simpler.

STI's are no joke. They are in Evo territory.

They are also easily upgradable. A bigger turbo, a little more fuel, and a little tune will have an STI running even faster. Low 12's are easily possible and 11's are not hard after a few more mods.

An '02 4.7L won't be much for racing anything especially with that motor. Not even close to keepin up with a stock hemi even if it's a MegaCab!!! Those 4.7's were way under powered especially when paired with a 5,000+lb truck. A Subaru that probably weighs 3,000 at most would need just a little more than 1/2 the hp to stay even with the ram. That would mean anything more than 120hp in a car and your 240hp truck is toast. Actually at 3,000lbs it would be 120hp=.5sec slower than the ram. .1sec for every 100lbs (roughly)

The Subaru weighs around 3200-3300lbs. If you actually raced an STi down a 1/4 mile track, it'd win by almost half the track. You do know they're 300hp, right?

My Subaru isn't a WRX or STi -- it's a Legacy sedan:

It ran 13.9's before but is in the middle of an upgrade. Once finished it'll be putting down over 400hp to the wheels on 93 octane and a bit more with 100. It'll be a nice "Camry with a hoodscoop" sleeper.

BTW, their recent non-turbo cars still make 170hp so even they may be a handfull for you. Standard AWD means they're going to have no trouble off the line.
