I coulldn't agree more, our trannys suck when it comes to effeciency. There are Stillen Titans out there and they are pretty fast.

is there a way to do a tranny swap to cut that loss from 30% to something like 12% seems like that would be the best hp mod to do

I really, really hate to admit this. My bosses Toyota Sienna van can beat my truck. Not really beat, but almost blow me out of the water. Its a v6 too. I raced him twice and had to twice do the slow drive of shame..

I got snaked by a 98 chev 1500 ECSB. This engine and transmission combo leaves a LOT to be desired. Then I regeared and can keep up to 1500 Hemi Rams but still its needs more jam. Atleast its not the 5.4 ford thats a hideous motor.

Get a new Torque Converter, Gears and an E-Fan. That will free up some power and get you moving quicker. The converter frees up between 6-8% of the loss, the E-fan frees up some (not sure on percentage there) and the gears get you flying. It be a lot cheaper than attempting a trans swap and tuning for it.

Ya, one of my buddys family members has one thats fully stock. That thing would beat my 5.9. I wouldn't attempt it in my truck.
That same boss also drives a 05 Ford with a 5.4 in it. Its a crew cab. He said that van will out run it. I haven't ever tried racing him in that one though.

AWD seems to help my 1500 quad cab......0 wheel spin off the start...haven't gone against Titan or Tundra but a Crossfire couldn't keep up off the start...
