had a BIG uh oh
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it you broke a couple of valves, you wiped out a couple of pistons in the process. When the valve drops, it contacts the piston, then the piston, doin what a piston does, tries to compress the broken valve, the aluminum piston has no chance in this endevor and a hole in the piston or a valve embedded in the piston is the result.
I would also be willing to bet you did some pretty serious damage to the cylinder head, the piston tends to beat the s*it out of the valve on anything available (head most often) Just pray you didnt trash the block!
I know where you are going. 2005 came with a 7/70 drive train warranty, which would cover this.
The 7/70 is standard if you bought the truck new. If you bought it used you would have had to transfer it, would have cost about $150.

True, I also figured the age of the truck mileage wise could have had something to do with this also
Sounds like a great excuse to get a set of performance heads to go with that cam when you do the swap.
really, you'll be lucky if the block doesn't need a rehone. i would expect the cylinder wall to be scuffed or scored.
ya when i said i hope i dont have to do pistons, i mean like ALL the pistons, im sure it wasnt every cylinder that dropped a valve or whatever. My machine shop said more then likely the cylinders that arent damaged wont need new pistons.
The truck has about 145,000 km on it, so its off warranty already for awhile now.

is it a big deal to change the retainers??? what would the difference between the 260 cam and the 268 cam? the 260 seems very hard to find. Would handheld programmer still be able to tune enough for the 268??
WHAT!!! Almost all Hemis have a tick. Some start within a couple hundred miles of them being brand new. A hemi tick is no indication of impending doom. Get your facts straight...
