Update #1:
They pulled the engine out, pulled the heads off, and cylinder #8 was empty.... rod, piston gone. The guy said that he has never seen a cylinder empty before, figures the rod snapped and the piston fell into the crank and exploded. So long story short this is what is now needed:
- cylinder bored and sleaved
- new connecting rod
- new piston
- new crankshaft
- new crank bearings,
- crank journals machined
this is ending up being more then i expected!

no i guess he said that the bearing wore out and then the connecting rod was rubbing on the crankshaft and the rod ceased to the crank, causing the rod to snap off, pretty big mess, im surprised it didnt bust a hole in the block.
ya looked into making it a stroker, but i dont think i can afford that, 1200 bucks or so for the crank, then all new rods ontop of that. Oh well, it will be cammed up and stiffer valve train, should be good enough for me! Should wake up the bastard with the headers to.
Yah your super lucky.. my buddy just hydrolocked his 08 ram with only 1500KMs on it last weekend and blew a chunk outa the passenger side of the block the size of a baseball!!
