RE: How much lift to clear 33" tires
Thanks for the info, in reply to shortbus, which swampers are you running and on what size rims? A mechanic here told me that the stock rims are 20X9 and by going to a 17X10, the extra width will cause the new tire(33X12 1/2X17) to rub the fender without a lift. Do you think he is blowing smoke to make me have him install a lift so he can make some $ ?

I'd talk to another tire shop and see what they say. If you look at the dimensions of a 33x12.50 17, they are almost identical (depending on the brand) to a 285x70 17 which will fit on a 17x8 rim and is listed as a replacement size for the stock ram tires. I think dodge might even offer that size with some packages. Different manufacturers have different specs on rim width though. I'd also check a few websites and look at manufacturer specs.

RE: How much lift to clear 33" tires
Right now I have Michellin 275/60/20 on the stock 20X9. If I go to a Weld 17X10 with a swamper 33x12.50X17 tire, would that clear the fender without a lift?? I'm trying to see if that could squeeze under the fender without any scraping. I know the stock tire is close in diameter but I'm just wondering about the extra inch in the aftermarket rim causing the new tire to go a little wider and scrape on the fender.
