Too low. Here is my Magnaflow cat-back by the rear springs, although mine exits out the rear. (Keeps tires from throwing stuff on my nice stainless tips )

Which magnaflow are you running? I'm not crazy about throwing the stock muffler on the truck. But, I want to make sure that if I run a magnaflow, it's going to absolutely be silent on the highway. I don't want it coming back around after 70mph.

I have the 16700 kit.
For your truck, here is the link. Offer $400 when it pops up.

Mine listed for $608 and I got it for $418.31 shipped to me door. If you still have a front resonator, it will be a bit quieter. I have no resonators on mine. It only had one and it was in the tailpipe.

Cruising on the highway it is pretty quite until you step on the gas, then it will talk to ya. No problem talking normally or hearing the stock radio while cruising at speed.

Hmm...wouldn't really be looking to buy an exhaust kit seeing I already have the piping done. But I am interested as to what muffler comes with that kit. It's a darn shame about the FM 50 HD. It sounds awesome around town, but on the highway, it's just as annoying as the other mufflers. I wish there was a muffler that sounded nice around town but shut up on the highway.....and that's probably the cutout. Drive cutout around town, and then shut it up on the big long road trips or when your pops is in the truck.

Which magnaflow muffler is most similar to our stock mufflers?

This would be your best bet man....throw a resonator on in front of it (before the cab, after the Y) and you'll be golden. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8002 It's the longest one they have so it'll be the quietest.

This one is a little shorter but it's fatter....not sure if it'll be quieter or not. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8012

Oh and your brother sounds a little jealous to me since he didn't even mention how good it sounded and just brings up the negatives. What does he drive?

I think I'm confident with what I want to do. Hometheaterman has said it all along too..

I'm going to take the stock muffler off my old system, sand it up and paint it up with high heat manifold paint, make it look very nice, and then replacing the 50 HD with the stock muffler. I will then buy another 3"inlet/2.5" dual outlet magnaflow y-pipe, and stick it to the outlet of the stock muffler to connect it to my existing dual tailpipes. Should be a little louder than stock since the resonator is no longer there. Then, I'm buying the DMH exhaust cutout tomorrow, and having that puppy installed right after my magnaflow y-pipe closer to the motor. This will give me exactly the best of both worlds. An extremely stock sounding ride on long road trips or when passengers are in the vehicle like my dad, I'll still have the great look of dual exiting tailpipes, and when I want it extremely loud, just hit that switch and be the meanest sounding truck around town!....and yes, I know y'all are going to say "told ya so" lol.

My brother drives a mean 1995 F350. He completely restored it, i mean everything. He recently lifted his truck 3 inches, and is adding 35 inches to his black beast. I wish sometimes I had his truck, its got a honking 460, it totally blows the hemi out of the water. Mann, now I got myself drooling for some Ford action. Sometimes I wish I just stuck with a Ford, and ditched the hemi tick and drone. Oh well, next time...

This is just getting sad man. Look dont rip it all out just yet, go down and pick up an CAI, make your own out of PVC for $60 if you have to but put one on your truck. It does a few things for you, it free's up the system which lets the truck breath deeper, adding a slight increase in power, throttle responce, slightly better mpg. BUT with all of that a side, it does a few things for your exhaust as well. It'll change the tone of the exhaust, it gave my system a deeper growl and toned the drone down to the point where it was hardly noticeable. Yes there was a slight drone from the intake but that was only at WOT, for general acceleration and driving without your foot planted deep into it, it was hardly noticeable if any. My wife will tell you the same thing, she would get horrible headaches driving in the truck when we would go down the freeway (65mph) because of the drone, now she doesn't have a problem with it at all.
