Al.
I didnt balk about payments or negative equity anywhere in this thread, just asking if its a good deal for a truck that will see the road less than 500 miles a month.

On the deal for the truck alone, I'd say everyone is in agreement that it's a great deal...

That could be your downfall, let's hope not. With the recent finance crunch, most lenders are hesitant to finance close to the full value of the vehicle, let alone above it to cover being upside down. Even with a really great credit score you may have a hard time...

Ok guys, they called me back and said that they will need about 1500.00 more (3000 total) down to get me around the value of the truck. So, the payments will also drop to 375 mo.

The only thing I know to do is put 2500 on a c.c. and write him a check for 500 and hope to get the c.c.'s paid off before interest starts building.

Good idea or no?

No, the credit card companies are getting tricky about raising their rates and you will never get it paid off. Tell them what you are willing to pay down and a month and if they want to sell, they will agree. If not, walk.

Do you have a CC offering a deal with a killer rate until it's paid off or at least for a year? They are forever sending me offers to transfer a balance at a low rate to use those stupid checks they send. Often the rate is as low as 2.9% with a small balance transfer fee or none at all.

The deal on the truck is a good one and it sounds like you are not happy with the Ranger, but only you can decide how bad you want this truck and what your finances will allow...

Ok,
I would like to ask about the price of the truck. The dealers are really low balling trade-in's for new trucks. A friend of mine bought a new ram and the dealer only offered him $7,500 for his super clean 04 SLT Laramie Ram 1500. The original window sticker was over $30k. I guess what I'm saying there are some excellent deals out there. Don't get pinched up over this one specific truck. But I understand you wanting to sell the Ranger.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Go to car max and get a quote for a trade-in/sell on your ranger. You might be surprised on how much they offer...they tend to offer a lot for their cars and the quote is good for 30 days. If nothing else it'll give you something to compare trade-in offers to the dealer with the ram. Who knows maybe the offer will be high enough to where you can throw a few grand down and hand them the keys.

Make sure you get the 7/70 warranty transfered. At least you will have the drive train covered for 15K or 2 years. Love my regular cab.

Good Luck
