Mobil, Wix or Purolator filters seem to be about the best out there.
As far as a gas treatment/additive, I've always used a good quality fuel injector cleaner in the tank every 3k miles or so, something along the lines of STP or the like, although many people swear by Seafoam. I've used it in small engines (lawn mower, weed whackers, etc.) with fantastic results. I should probably give it a try in the truck or jeep...
I have used sea foam in a few different applications and it worked shockingly well. I inherited a riding mower from the people who owned our house before us and the oil looked like black tar,so I changed the oil and it still had so such sludge in the engine it mad the new oil turn black immediatly upon startup.I poured in some sea foam and it instantly cleared up the oil,I ran it a few times and changed the oil again and it has never looked better or run cleaner. I am now a believer in Sea foam it's a great product.
