Your better off installing a Cam and have some headwork done. Get LT headers with free flow exhaust and you'll be cheaper and have more power than a stock 6.1L.

While it's not what you were asking. I thought i would point you in another direction for cost/hp benefit. I don't know exactly what is needed. I haven't done my homework in that dept. just yet....hehe

Yeah, But what would doing the same mods on a 6.1 yield? Whats more, With chrysler's issues, I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to get a 6.1 crate motor for a really good price?

With that said I would be interested in knowing what would be involved in this mod.

Of course, on the same note, I wouldn't mind putting a CTD in my truck either, but that ain't happening anytime soon. lol.

After a little research and comparison, The mounts aren't in the same place, The motor is taller, requiring modification to the hood. The tranny would have to be replaced, Among other things.

All the money required and work required, You would be just as good to replace it with a 392 or better. ( http://www.motorauthority.com/gm-to-...te-engine.html )

to much work.... and would be alot of headache, best bet would be to go to KRC performance, and buy a 392 stroker. Go check out this website, its about 6400 bucks for a short block stroker 6.7L hemi, thats capable of 550hp stock.... that would be the way id go instead of trying to swap a 6.1L

If you have enough money to buy a crate 6.1 (Chrysler being in the bind it is makes parts harder to find, not cheaper) why don't you just buy a supercharger? Everyone loves them after they get them, and that along with some other mods will put you way over that 505HP
