Transmissions, Torque Converters and Rear Gearing - How to Improve RWHP
keep this thread alive! i'm interested in doing a new TQ'verter (probably 2600 stall as well). How hard is the installation? Anyone know of any writeups? I've never done work on an automatic and frankly, they terrify me. I've only worked on manuals.
Its not bad but I would not do it on the floor on jack stands
Basically you remove the driveshaft, unhook all the electrical plugs, remove the support/crossmember, unbolt it (this part is probably the most difficult to get to all the bolts, 2 24" extentions help out nicely), back it out, pull off the old converter and put in the new one and put it all back together

Ill have a write up very soon for you AF. I got my tq verter before the first of the year, but i havent had the time to install it yet. (work has been crazy, and remodled/moved into a new place)
Ive got everything i need to do it except time. hopefully this friday i will get my chance. only problem is my photographer is in minnesota for a week or so. pics wont come out as nice as they could, but there will still be plenty, i garuntee you that.

Not reallly you backout the trans slide off the tc (if you are just doing the tc and not dropping the pan as well becarefull cause it holds a couple qts) put the new one on and put it back together.
What brand converter are you looking at getting?
i havent decided if im gonna do an edge converter 2600 stall or a nice cam with a SC/SCT stack custom tune. probably leaning towards the cam for now. TQ'verter probably summer timeframe
i dunno about beating him on quality of the write up, but ill definitely blow his pics out of the water.
Heys, 3rd gen dakota here, was wondering how well the TQ converter performed for you guys that installed it? Noticeable power? I'm looking for an edge this spring for speed reasons, not towing. Great thread!

lookin forward to it!!
