You should already be running minimum of 89oct. 87 is crap even for a stock engine. i ran 91oct when mine was stock. Now I run diablo 91oct tune and use 93oct gas. i have K&N drop in and a catback. that's it. i may be throwing minor pennies away, but I know I have ZERO detonation issue's.
I would say get yourself a programmer and run 91 or 93oct. You won't be throwing yourmoney away and you have a lot to gain by going that route as well as a tuner! Get a tuner dude.

What octane are you running now? If you're getting any knock you'll definitely feel the difference of not having timing pulled.

If you can and if you can find it in your area, stay away from ethanol blended fuels also. Luckily we have a few non-enthanol stations around here. And get this, on one particular street there is a Chevron with ethanol blended and across the street is a Shell with 100% fuel. They are always the same price as one another. Wanna guess where I go?

EXACTLY! that is why I say use 89oct. There is only 1 gas station within a reasonable distance from my house that sells 100% gasloine. Only issue is......They only have 87oct. and they are .30 higher than anywhere else???

The folks saying they run 87 and have no problems don't have a clue how much timing is being pulled. They're losing power and are completely unaware of it. Sure the engine will compensate for low octane by pulling timing and preventing damage, but that doesn't mean it's the right choice. Without a tuner, you should be running 89. With a tuner, run the octane recommended for the tune level.

I agree RubberFrog. People should read their owners manual!! The Hemi can run 87, but Dodge highly recommends 89 octane due to the compression ratio and tuning. I always ran 89 in mine until I got my Predator, now I run 93 octane on the 93 tune.
Anything over 89 octane without a tuner is a waste of money. There is no benefit from it.
