Default Proof the powerblock is just an advertisement

Every weekend I watch the PowerBlock on Spike (Muscle Car, Horsepower TV, Xtreme 4x4, and Trucks!). This weekend proved a theory i've had for a long time... its all just an advertisement. they'll slap on those cars whatever the sponsors give them and call them "the best of the products offered"

todays pathetic excuse for an upgrade...
a hemi charger was on for some performance upgrades and heres the list they gave it:

Airraid intake (ok this is an acceptable upgrade)
throttle body spacer (ha!! paperweight...)
hypertech programmer (possibly the worst programmer out there for gas)
flowmaster exhaust (good sound, worse than stock performance)
ebc brakes (wow! they finally got something right)

I'd love to go in there and say, if I can get better dyno numbers can i keep it? i'd have a new hemi charger lol.

Was it on horsepower or musclecar? Horsepower usually uses some good items when building up their cars and usually do a dyno test after to show the gains...

You do get a few good tips on the powerblock but I agree it's a thinly vieled commercial sometimes,as are many of the "how to" shows on TV these days. We are real suckers, we pay good money for cable/sattlelite TV to be spoon fed glorified commercials. The pitch for early Cable TV was "no more commercials" lol.

it was on horsepower. they did put the charger on the dyno, and yes, it had a few gains, just not the most gains for the stuff they put on. When they do engine rebuilds and stuff they do good work. usually use comp cams and stuff. trucks! is probably the worst as far as being a "commercial". and if anyone has seen TruckU, its even worse

Trucks! Wasn't too bad today. They were showing a build on a 4.0 stroker. I really only saw one flaw with their build and that was the fact that they forgot to mention to remove the plastigauge when they were done. Now some poor sap is going to leave it in, and that stuff is hell on bearings.

why is it that "trucks" only does dodge diesels, and not the normal upgrades that we do or want to do to 3rd gen rams with the hemi or the 4.7 or did i miss those shows, it seems its all ford or chevy
