I have read several threads about this topic and I hate to make up another but none of them answered my questions. With the Flex a Lite 180 it comes with a fan controller if I'm not mistaken. Does it automatically kick on when the rad reaches a certain temp? If so can you preset the temp at which it turns on? Is it louder or quieter than the clutch fan? I also have a heck of a lead foot , and accelerating in town I average around 2.5-3k rpms. Will this fan handle my cooling needs? I don't want it to overheat. Sorry if this is too long and annoying to read but I want to know a bunch about these fan's before I decide to buy one.

 

typically, you can set yur efan to com on at any temp (i have mine set for 165 degrees).. it can be louder depending on fan (viper and mark viii)..I have a taurus one myself so it isn't as loud... I have over 165k miles on mine... I tow a boat, drag race at the track..and am aggressive on the streets and it keeps it cool just fine

should give plenty of cooling, and it will be quieter than the clutch fan at startup for sure (because it will be off).

The fan controller is variable. you basically turn the truck on and watch the temp needle go up. when it gets to the point you want the fan to turn on, you adjust the controller to turn on right then. then you watch the needle go down, and when it gets to where you want the fan to turn off, you set it to turn off.

 

Lol it's more around 4.5k gettin on the highway and then droppin down to around 2 when I set the cruise. So does the Black Magic 180 Extreme from Flexa a Lite come with the controller? If I buy it I'm gonna get it from Moes Performance. Their site says it's 306 bucks but I saw posts saying it was only 249 or something like that from Moes? I know it will be quieter on startup but when the fan kicks on will it be as loud as the clutch fan?

 

The Taurus fan I am running is quieter than the clutch fan when the e-fan runs on low. I had it hooked up on high once and it was louder than the clutch fan.

 

I've towed as much as a 7700 lb. tractor, rough cut mower and duel axle trailer combo with a 180 Extreme cooling my truck with NO issues whatsoever.
Yes it comes with everything you need and the controller can be set, if not mistaken, anywhere from like 160-240. I have mine set just a hair befor my 180* thermostat opens.
It's a good bit quieter than the clutch fan...

 

I don't know that I'll drop in a new t stat unless I need to but when does the stock one open up? At what temperature I mean.

 

I think the stock t-stat opens at 195*.

 

Anybody have a Pic of there Taurus fan install? I'm thinking of going this route but not sure how to keep the stock shroud.
