Anybody else get bad fuel milage?
<<Throttle calibration can substantially improve throttle responsiveness over "factory standard." Many people notice what appears to be sluggish throttle response or a "dead area" at initial accelerator depression. Throttle calibration can take care of these.
1) Insert ignition key and turn to "ON" (not start).
2) Wait for all idiot lights to go out. Check Engine Light may remain on.
3) Slowly depress the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor.
4) Slowly release the accelerator pedal until it's all the way back up.
5) Turn the ignition key to "OFF".
6) Start the engine.
Most drivers notice an immediate change in throttle response, but depending on your driving style, you may need to repeat this procedure periodically due to the computer's adaptive programming. You likely need to repeat this procedure any time the battery is disconnected. >>

i can get 20-24 mpg highway(120 miles per 1/4 tank) but city its around 12. i havent been on a trip for almost this whole year. ive noticed at 65 the rpm is a little higher then 2k thats maybe because i have so many speaker boxes now, 3 total, throughout the truck.
also in winter mpg goes down but gas prices arent as high

And all you b*stards with 4.7s shouldnt be able to put in your vote and say what your mileage is. LOL
I nkow I wanted my HEMI and I knew it wasnt the best on fuel and for that, sometimes I regret it. But then when i see all the threads everywhere on head/gasket issues with the 4.7, I smile again and am content with my 5.7.

My buddys truck that I thought was an 09, and was wondering how he got better mileage. Well I asked him about it, his truck is actually an 07, and a 4.7 engine. Flexfuel just means he can use bio diesel if he chooses to.
I drive mine fairly aggressive. 70-80mph on the highway (limit is 70) and a few WOT runs when needed and I average 17mpg with in-town drive mixed in. Not bad got a 5220lb truck with a Hemi, 3.92's and the MDS off.
Im also having an issue with gas mileage and I think my MDS system is not working right. I notice on a 30 minute trip to work in the prairies( almost flat most of the way to work) that the MDS will cut in for a few seconds then drop RPM back to overdrive. The MDS may cut in about 3-5 times tops on the trip to work and that is cruising at 100kph/60mph. Im running premium gas and rarely nail the throttle except to pass. I put $100 in the tank and zeroed the estimated L/100kms and ODO and when the gauge hit roughly the mark I filled it up at the ODO read 500kms and overall my estimated l/100kms was about 12-14 l/100kms( i did reset that every day and watch it). So $100 in premium at $1.10 a litre works out to $4.40 a gallon. I would say Im getting 20 L/100kms or about 10MPG which isnt too good for a MDS truck. Running with no mods yet(just bought it used with 50K) 20" rims, and 3.92 gears. Hemi of course. I have a friend at work that was getting brutal mileage in his 2002 GMC Sierra with a 5.3 and he got his cats replaced and said it was night and day as far as mileage was concerned. I might check on that first then a fresh oil change, otherwise Im thinking of putting on a better flowing air filter and exhaust. Maybe that will help.
