Default Gear ratio question 3.92?

In my 2003 dodge ram hemi 4x4, it says i have 3.92 axle ratio, Do all dodge 1500 from 2003 and up have that gea ratio or do you have to special order it with those gears?

My 08 4x2 1500 had stock 3.21 gears till I swapped them out. I guess that answered that. Unless ofc you're speaking for just 4x4's in which case I'd assume it's still not the case seeing others I believe have 3.55 gears.

I used to think that the 3.92s came with factory tow package and LSD. But I was proven wrong when I made that statement and a few guys chimed in that they had the tow package and LSD but still had the cheazy 3.55 gears.
So, although most with the tow package seem to have 3.92s, I guess it just comes down to how the truck was ordered...

Tow package w/ 3.73's here. Wish I had the 4.10's. They should be standard w/ the MegaCabs IMO.

Among 1500s choices from the factory are: 3.21, 3.55 & 3.92. I couldn't imagine having 3.55s let alone the 3.21s!

Mega Cab 1500s share the same choices as 2500s: 3.73 or 4.10 and I'd agree with dr650rider, just like I don't think 3.55s have a place in any 1500 other than maybe a RC 4x2, I don't think the 3.73s should be in any NON-DIESEL Mega or 2500...

I have an 04 QC 4x4 with the tow packege, but the truck is the Off Road version (2nd Gen 5 spoke wheels, off road shocks and skid plates.....love it!) and mine came with 3.92. What does this mean to me? Is this better for towing?

It's better for towing, acceleration, and good if you have larger tires.
