Default Max tire size

Hi,

Just purchase a 2005 Ram Quad 1500 came with 17" rims that i do not want to change. I want to replace the stock tires with the largest tire that will fit with out any lift mods.

Brand and size is what i'm looking for

thanks

It all depends on what you want. If you just want bigger, then you can probably go with a 285. But you have to see what can fit under there and what type of tire wear will happen. Most dealers also know what is the max size tire you can fit on your truck. Check out tirerack.com for some more info.

Hope I'm not too late, I just saw this post. I can say with certainty that you CAN fit 305's. I spent a ton of time debating this before I finally put some on mine. I have a 2002 1500 , and my 305's do not rub at all, not even when the wheel is turned all the way. How about a pic, that may help you out. Let me see what I can find

Those are Maxxis Bighorns. I'm pretty pleased with them so far, but they do have some road noise to them. Here is a closer pic taken with my phone.

Another real popular tire for is the BFG's

That tirerack place didn't help me one bit.... they may be good for telling you standard tires, but when moving up in size it wasn't any help.

i've got a 2.5" coil spring spacer on my 05 2500 2wd with 305's and never had a rub, but with the 315's i've heard of people getting rub on suspension that you can't hear but wears the tire out fast, only word of mouth though, if your interested in the leveling kit, its through daystar and its only $90
