you know, i was originally looking for a manual CTD 2500, but after driving a big rig with a 10spd for a year OTR, i didnt want to drive one again. after shifting 100+ times up and down a day, i just didnt want one anymore. settled for an auto HEMI. now im stuck with a 5spd split axle straight truck at work and back to shifting 100+ times around town everyday.

Here in the UK.......the green brigade has grown sooooo powerful and the government soooo greedy, that they are thinking of putting a 10-15% road tax increase on automatic vehicles.
They say it's to discourage the use of auto's due to the extra 10-15% increase in fuel useage compared to a manual.
I just think it's a way to rob us motorists of more money.
Sorry for the thread jack. Just thought it might be interesting to some of you guys?

You do realize that an automatic has more than one gear right? lol
Just saying, they call it an automatic because there is no clutch. You can actually put it in 1st or 2nd for low end power, then the overdrive can be turned off for towing on the open road. My olds 455 has a T400 behind it and it never just gets put in D. Like Asphaltcowboy said, I drive a 7 speed Sterling 40+ hours a week, so screw that.

$'s boys, it's all about that $... If the demand was there, they would be puttin' them in. Times are a changin'. My first three 4x4 trucks (and first two SUVs as well) were manual shifters. My last four trucks have all been automatics.

What is really amazing to me is the number of "sports" cars that are no longer available with a true manual transmission. I had a '73 Nova SS when I first got my license in the mid 80's, I couldn't even imagine that car with an automatic...

So you actually like the Hemi....you just don't like the transmission choice(s).

These Chrysler autos suck more then Jenna Jameson in a double feature I agree with the OP on his point, a 6spd hemi in a 1/2 version would be sweet, but not practical for the company.

Has anyone seen a retro-fit manual swap in a ram by chance? Ive seen a couple done in the Lightnings, pretty cool. (I can't believe they didnt have a manual option either!)
