Default Why i dont like a HEMI

Not going to lie i wanted a HEMI so bad, but they made the biggest mistake ever. Did not make in a manual. Who wants to go offroading and mudding in a automatic, it takes all the fun out and makes it boring........ Pretty much what i am saying, a manual transmission is the way to go, and I would and did sacrifice a hemi for a 4.7 to get a 6-speed. Does anyone know why is wasn't made in a manual?

so what is it you dont like about the HEMI? i understand you dont like the transmission choices for 1/2 ton trucks, (3/4 ton are available with standard transmissions and 5.7's) but what is it about the 5.7 that you dont like?

That was it. That they don't make a manual transmission. Like in my first sentence i said i wanted one so bad. So here is my question, why does my dads 2001 dodge ram 24 valve cummings deisel had a 6 speed, but the 5.7 Hemi doesn't. Makes absolutely no sense to me. With a motor like the hemi, it would be killer in a manual transmission.

well, first off its CUMMINS and like horse apples said they do make a 3/4 ton with a hemi and 6 speed... that cummins was at least a 3/4 ton...

they probably didnt put a 6 speed with the 1/2 ton hemi because it would be way too dam fast and powerful. so instead they put in a auto tranny that steals 30% of the horsepower....

I love auto trans In my hemi. I cant drive manual trans cause I dont know how lol so I'm happy but I can see your understanding about it. I would think they would on a hemi that everybody has. All other car and trucks have them well at least most of them. IM thinking that most people drive auto now and they would not sell alot of them but they at least should have made it and iption so you could order one and have it custom built but i dont know what they were thinking. Just my 2 cents

Thanks for input guys. And guess what, i talked to a guy at dodge and they are no longer making manual transmissions on the 4.7L either starting with 09s. Thats what the dealer told me a couple months ago. I am so lost on the subject. They might make it in the V6 but no idea

The real reason is because about 1% of buyers request a manual transmission. No demand, why spend the money to make it. Ford never put the manual behind the 5.4L in the F150 either. No demand.

Which i think is ridiculous. Yea i might be young and a adrenaline junky and quite a lead foot. But why have all that power when u really cant control it like u can with a manual. But that is just what i like. I like to feel the power and choose what rpm to change i like to feel in control....... and by the way my girl has a automatic car and i hate driving it, to boring and i keep hitting the DAMN BRAKE thinking its a clutch, kinda embarrassing

i have a manual in my 71 nova. i have an auto in my ram. my nova is for having fun and putting real power the ground, where my truck is not for speed, its for work and daily driving. not to mention, have you ever driven a manual in bumper to bumper traffic? it sucks

I agree with lxman. It's not that it would be too fast and powerful, otherwise they wouldn't make the SRT-10, but it's because hardly anyone buys a manual transmission car or truck.
